An Après Ski Living Room

With Christmas right around the corner, we couldn’t resist showing you the beautiful festive living room from Stefa Designs who we featured last week (remember the Avatar-inspired room with the amazing wallpaper?).

Après ski

This time the look is very different and conveys the wonderful glow after a day on the slopes, coming back to an open fire, candlelight, a Christmas tree (of course) and a warming glass of something strong!

We love the playful mix of edgy designers such as BoConcept with the more organic and earthy looking pieces, such as the wooden chandelier in a beautiful teardrop shape which you can get from Chandeliers and Mirrors for £ 310.00.

The plush, low backed Hampton sofa in tan leather and the gorgeous wing-backed Imola armchair shown in light grey Lux Felt fabric and brushed steel legs (£2098) are both from BoConcept, as are the coffee table, side table and some of the accessories.

Wallpaper

The amazing textured wallpaper is from Thibaut Designs, which is the US’s oldest continuously operating wallpaper firm and, along with one highly illustrated papers, such as toiles and floral patterns, also produce some amazing textured embossed vinyl wallpapers with the effect of woods, mother of pearl and fabrics. The one shown here is Eastwood which is £144 per roll from Wallpapers of Distinction.

Accessories

We love the rich elegance of the candle holders and sheepskins from Graham and Green in Stephanie’s living room design. It really feels like a cosy retreat from an Alpine landscape. The sheepskins come in a range of sizes and colours. We love the vole coloured ones (£135).  The deer head ornaments are a nice (animal-friendly) touch too. We spotted these ones in white for £55.

There’s been a real vogue for rougher looking flooring in recent times, from recycled parquet through to skimmed concrete. This wooden flooring from Karndean flooring is no exception. It’s called Weathered Heart Pine and here at The Idealist, we love it. The look of the wood plank is designed to combine the open grain and man-made markings created by over a hundred years of use with the effect of a very light brush and light satin oils to bring the blended tones to life restoring the natural beauty of the American wood.

Shutters

The ‘Plantation’ wooden shutters are from Hillarys and really help to tie the look of the room together.

IDEALIST It’s been an amazing year all told for Stefa Designs and it was wonderful to catch up with Stephanie at the Ideal Home at Christmas Show and feature her on The Idealist. We’re really excited to hear more about the team’s projects in 2017. The house renovation in West Acton – where the owner has asked for bespoke cabinetry and a clean contemporary look – promises to be an exciting one and we are looking forward to seeing the results.
