Think back to when you were a child. What would you include in your dream bedroom? Heavy, dark wood furniture, chintzy curtains, flowery wallpaper and antique lamps? No, we thought not. So, how about this amazing boys bedroom? An imaginative, practical and fun solution for growing boys…
You can have all kinds of fun creating a bedroom for small people, and the interiors industry has certainly risen to our desire to give our children the kind of bedrooms they deserve.
Storage, Space, Adaptability
There are three essential things to consider when decorating your child’s bedroom, storage, space and adaptability: you need plenty of storage in which to store your child’s treasured belongings, space for them to play, and a design which is changeable, so that it can adapt to your child as he or she grows – saving you time and money in the long run.
This fabulous boys bedroom by Roselind Wilson Design nails all of these elements: the white wall to the left of the main picture is all storage, built into the joinery along with the amazing upholstered portholes where the boys read and play. There is then plenty of space for the children to get everything out of those cupboards to play. Although the room is quite obviously for younger children, simple stylistic changes will make this a brilliant base for budding teenagers too.
The bedroom is part of Roselind’s Holland Park design, where the clients requested a child-friendly home, with space to run around practical furnishings and clutter free surfaces. A key part of the brief was to create a really fun space for the couple’s two young boys, achieved with splashes of vibrant colour and a climbing wall. A favourite design feature in this room is the 3D effect paint wallpaper, custom made by Surface View. Let’s just hope it doesn’t inspire the boys to get arty with the other walls.
